International Women's Day at CCM | Meet Kirsty

Meet Kirsty – International Women’s Day 2024

For International Women’s Day 2024, we interviewed each of our women at CCM. To learn more about them, their past and how they find working in this automotive arena.

Introducing Kirsty, our joyful Accounts Manager and incredible baker! A mother of 3, Kirsty’s positive spirit lights up our team. Always helpful and a delight to work with, she adds a special touch to our team.

Watch the video of all our lovely ladies below, or read Kirsty’s transcript below.

Kirsty, tell me a bit about yourself.

I’m Kirsty, I look after the accounts for all 3 CCM sites and I’ve been here a little over 3 years.

And what did you dream of doing when you were a little girl?

I wanted to be a teacher but work experience in a primary school made me realise that I didn’t have the patience for it!

Do you find it difficult to get involved or integrate yourself in such a male-dominated field?

My family is very male heavy and I’ve worked in some male dominated environments before so I wasn’t too daunted by it when I joined CCM. I didn’t need to worry anyway cause I think the team here are really lovely and I’ve always felt included and valued.

Do you feel supported in your career goals here?

Yes, I think we’re really fortunate that we’ve got managers that show an interest in each and every one of us.

Have you heard of International Women's Day before?

Yes, I have although I’ve never been anywhere that celebrated it before so it’s a really lovely surprise to get a card and flowers from CCM.

Do you have any women in your life who inspire you?

Yes, my mum. I would be lost in my life without her but also I’ve seen some really strong women, go through some tough battles in the last few years and the way that they’ve handled it with such courage, strength and positivity I think is nothing short of inspiring.

Have you faced any barriers in your career due to being a woman?

I certainly had times when my ideas have not been heard.

This year's International Women's Day theme is #InspireInclusion. What does this mean to you?

Peoples views and ideas should be judged on their merit and not influenced by their gender. Having a daughter myself I hope that we can keep pushing these issues into the limelight and make positive changes for her future.

What advice would you give to someone who wanted to start a career in automotive?

Give it a go! I found it to be a really friendly
and supportive environment.
