Motorcycle MOT - Gatwick

Motorcycle MOTs follow a different test structure to cars, and they need to be carried out by a tester with the correct authorisation and equipment for two-wheeled vehicles. At CCM, we carry out Class 1 and Class 2 MOTs which cover motorcycles and mopeds, at our Gatwick site.

What the motorcycle MOT covers

The test assesses the key safety systems specific to powered two-wheelers:

Brakes – front and rear, condition and performance
Tyres – tread depth, condition, and security on the wheel
Lights – headlight, tail light, brake light, and indicators
Headlight aim
Steering – movement, play, and bearing condition
Suspension – front forks and rear shock condition
Frame and structure – visible cracks, damage, or corrosion
Exhaust – security, condition, and emissions where applicable
Horn
Mirrors – where required for the vehicle’s date of first use
Vehicle identification – VIN and registration plate

Class 1 and Class 2 explained

Class 1 — motorcycles with an engine capacity over 200cc

Class 2 — mopeds and motorcycles up to 200cc
