Welding is one of those garage services that doesn’t come up often, but when it does, it’s important to get it done properly. Structural corrosion can affect MOT eligibility, vehicle safety, and long-term bodywork integrity, and having it properly repaired by someone who knows what they’re doing is the difference between a lasting fix and a temporary patch.
At CCM, we carry out vehicle welding repairs across a range of structural and chassis applications, from MOT-related corrosion repairs to more involved structural work.
We assess the extent of the corrosion before any work begins and give you a clear picture of what’s needed. In some cases, what looks like surface rust is more extensive once the area is properly inspected. We’ll always tell you what we’ve found before proceeding with the repair.
All welding work is carried out to the standard required for MOT compliance where that’s the purpose of the repair, and we’ll retest the relevant items once the work is complete.
Older and higher mileage vehicles are most commonly affected by corrosion requiring welding, but it’s not exclusively an age issue; vehicles used in coastal areas or on heavily salted roads can develop structural corrosion earlier than expected. An annual inspection of the underside is worthwhile on any vehicle over five or six years old.
