Fleet Maintenance - Ewhurst, Gatwick & Cranleigh

Keeping a fleet of vehicles properly maintained requires more than booking each one in when something goes wrong. It requires a proactive approach, clear communication, and a garage that understands the operational pressures fleet operators are working under.

CCM provides fleet maintenance for operators of all sizes – from a business running one or two vehicles, to larger organisations with fleets well into the dozens. For example, we recently took on a fleet maintenance contract with National Rail covering 84 vehicles – a responsibility that reflects the trust larger operators are placing in us, and the systems we have in place to deliver consistently at scale. Whether you run a small local fleet or a large multi-vehicle operation, we bring the same standards, the same proactive communication, and the same commitment to keeping your vehicles on the road.

What fleet maintenance with CCM includes

  • Proactive communication on upcoming service requirements and emerging issues

  • Fixed pricing on routine and scheduled work
  • Auto-authority budgets for unforeseen repairs, agreed in advance

Fleet maintenance in practice

Preventative maintenance

Reactive maintenance costs more than preventative maintenance. For fleet operators, the costs of an unplanned breakdown go beyond the repair bill: lost working time, disrupted operations, and potential safety implications all add up quickly. At CCM, our approach to fleet maintenance is deliberately proactive. We plan schedules in advance, monitor vehicle condition across the fleet, and flag emerging issues before they become failures. The goal is always to keep your vehicles working, not to wait until they aren’t.

6 and 10 weekly school minibus checks

Schools and educational organisations operating minibuses have specific maintenance and compliance obligations that go well beyond a standard service schedule. The DVSA requires safety inspections at either 6 or 10 weekly intervals, with vehicles 12 years and older moving to the shorter cycle. These checks must cover all elements of the annual MOT test and must be carried out by a competent contractor with appropriate equipment, including roller brake test and emissions test capability.

At CCM, we carry out 6 and 10 weekly minibus safety checks at our Cranleigh and Gatwick sites, conducted by qualified MOT testers. We retain safety check records on your behalf, provide written documentation for every inspection, and plan schedules at least six months in advance, coordinating checks with MOT and service dates to reduce the number of times each vehicle is off the road. A formal written contract is provided as required by the DVSA, with an annual review to ensure it continues to meet your needs. Account facilities are available for schools.

Driver reportable defects

Fleet operators have a legal obligation to ensure drivers carry out daily walkaround checks and report any defects promptly in writing. Beyond that obligation, having a garage that can act quickly on reported defects and document the rectification properly is a genuine operational asset. We can support your defect reporting and rectification process, ensuring that faults are addressed promptly, recorded accurately, and retained for the required 15 months. For minibus operators in particular, this forms a critical part of a DVSA-compliant maintenance system.

First use inspections

When a vehicle is hired, borrowed, or newly added to a fleet, a first use inspection is required before it enters service. This applies particularly to minibuses and commercial vehicles, and follows a similar format to a scheduled safety check. We carry out first use inspections at our Cranleigh and Gatwick sites, providing full written documentation to support your compliance records.

MOT fleet coordination

Managing MOT expiry dates across a mixed fleet is an administrative burden that’s easy to let slip. We take that burden off your hands by tracking MOT dates across your fleet, booking vehicles in proactively, and coordinating MOT visits with scheduled services and safety checks wherever possible. Fewer separate visits means less downtime and a cleaner, more manageable maintenance calendar.

Commercial vehicle fleet servicing

For businesses running vans, LCVs, or mixed fleets, keeping vehicles serviced and compliant is an operational necessity. We service and maintain vehicles across all the major commercial brands, including Stellantis vehicles such as Peugeot, Citroen, Vauxhall, and Fiat, alongside Ford, Nissan, Renault, and Mercedes-Benz. Class 4 and Class 7 MOTs are available across our sites, with Class 7 at Cranleigh and Gatwick.

We work with businesses to pre-agree maintenance schedules and pricing, build in flexibility for urgent repairs, and turn vehicles around as quickly as possible to minimise operational disruption. A courtesy van is available to keep your operation moving while a vehicle is with us.

Accident and incident repairs

Incidents happen in any fleet. Having a trusted garage relationship already in place means vehicles can be assessed and returned to service quickly, with proper documentation for insurance purposes. We’ll prioritise getting an incident-damaged fleet vehicle back on the road, and we’ll provide clear written records of the work carried out to support any insurance or compliance requirements.

Seasonal readiness checks

Cold weather places additional demands on batteries, cooling systems, tyres, and lighting. A pre-winter fleet check across your vehicles significantly reduces the risk of cold weather failures and keeps your fleet operating reliably through the months when breakdowns are most disruptive. We can schedule seasonal readiness checks across your fleet in a single coordinated visit programme, working around your operational requirements.

Fleet diagnostics and fault management

Modern commercial vehicles are as reliant on electronics as they are on mechanics, and fleet operators increasingly encounter faults that require proper diagnostic investigation rather than a straightforward mechanical repair. Our full diagnostic capability, available at Ewhurst and Gatwick, means we can get to the bottom of complex or intermittent faults across a wide range of makes and models, identify the root cause, and resolve it correctly the first time.

DVSA compliance support

For operators who hold or are applying for an operator’s licence, documented and regular maintenance from a reputable garage is essential evidence during a DVSA compliance audit. At CCM, every service, safety check, and repair generates a full written record. We retain minibus safety check records on your behalf, provide formal written contracts, and plan schedules in advance, giving you the paper trail you need to demonstrate a compliant and well-managed maintenance system.

The brands we work with

Our LCV expertise covers the key commercial brands: Stellantis vehicles including Peugeot, Citroen, Vauxhall, and Fiat, alongside Ford, Nissan, Renault, and Mercedes-Benz. We also work on a wide range of other makes and models across cars, vans, and minibuses.
